Father's Day

This year for Father's Day the boys made breakfast for Monty all by themselves!  It was pretty awesome.  I actually slept in while they made him a feast.  At first Tyler asked if he could make muffins, but when we got downstairs the boys had made:  muffins, toasted cinnamon raisin bread, sausage, eggs, spam and orange juice.  I was pretty proud of the.  So proud in fact that I did the dishes.  We are thankful for Monty and what he does for our family. We are lucky to have and awesome dad!

Worst Mom Award--again!

Several weeks ago I was shopping with Makai.  It is so easy to go shopping with just one kid--especially Makai. He is easy going and just goes with the flow.  Well, it was about our third store of the day and he was getting tired so he asked if he could ride in the cart.  He is too big to fit in the front of the cart so he rides in the deep part.   He is always so good and just sits down, but occasionally he will pretend like he is surfing. On this particular day he was pretending to surf when I saw something in the isle that I needed. I grabbed the cart and pulled it back which set him off balance and he fell out of the cart flat on his back.  He looked stunned. I will never forget his face.  After the shock wore off he started to cry.  I held him for about five minutes--I could tell it hurt!  He got a pretty big knot on his head.  Two weeks later I went to cut his hair and to my surprise where the knot was there was no longer hair!  His fall didn't cut his head open, but obviously injured him under his skin.  He has had two hair cuts since the fall and still very little hair.  I have hope his hair will eventually grow back--if not, I am so sorry buddy!  He keeps asking me, "Mom, why do I have a bald spot?  The brothers keep saying I have a bald spot!"  So, once again...I have earned the worst mom award!

CSU Football Camp

This year we promised the boys we would sign them up for a football camp.  We wanted to put them in BYU football camp, but they didn't have room for Kory, so we decided to stay local and just signed them up for CSU.  A great way to spend the first week of Summer break.
Tyler signing up for Football Camp.  Excited, but nervous.

Waiting for the challenge to begin

Getting their lunch tickets and the coach looking at Monty thinking, "If these boys end up like him I need to keep these boys in my good side!"

I love this picture of the boys!  They had extra tee shirts so Trey and Makai got one too.  I feel so lucky to have this handsome group.

The camp was a two day camp.  They ran the boys a lot.  These pictures were just the beginning.  Then they went outside to the practice field.  They also had swim time and meals.  Lots and lots of drills and fun.  They were so excited to use their cleats and learn some plays.  When I came home from Youth Conference on Saturday the boys were at the park practicing football drills with Monty.  I almost cried as Kyle saw me and ran over to me in his Chargers jersey.  He had the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face.  Right now his dream is that of many 11 yr olds--to be a professional football player.  My dream is for him to play, have fun, and not get hurt, but that is the mom in me I guess.
While at the pool this week some guy says, "Hey Salanoa's!"  I was thinking, "Who the heck knows my kids?!"  The boys responded, 'Hey coach!'  Oh, then it all made sense.  They loved camp!  Thanks dad for signing them up.

Seven--Trey

Today Trey turned 7!  He was obviously pretty excited about his birthday.  Only one more year and he will be able to be baptized!  For his birthday he got a new bike.  He wanted a bike with a hand brake--so funny what that kid notices!  He told me all the brothers had a hand break except him.  He also got a Miami Dolphins blanket.(each of the boys are getting their team blanket this year).
Trey is a good boy, but he tests my patience about every day.  This week has been particularly bad as he has a new pair of shoes--TIE SHOES!  He had always been pretty particular about how TIGHT his shoes are.  It takes about 10minutes every morning now for him to get his shoes the way he likes them and even then he leaves to school crying that they aren't perfect.  I wish I was more patient, but I am not.  It frustrates me.  This morning though he didn't need help and got them tight enough on his own.  I would say this is the first day in a week and a half he hasn't been crying when he left to school.
Monday we went to the track for family night.  The older boys practiced football with Monty and I played a little soccer with Trey!  He is actually really good at soccer and really enjoys it.  He's quick and has some good foot skills.  I enjoyed playing with him(minus the small time he cried because he felt like I was doing better than he was).
For dinner he wanted to go to a buffet.  I asked him what it was he wanted at the buffet and he said, "PEACHES!"  So, instead I made homemade pizza and we had all you can eat peaches!  Then I made him a peach cake with cream cheese and peach frosting.  I believe it was inspiration as the idea came to me as I was driving to get Trey's blanket and worrying about having enough time to get everything done in my day that I needed to get done.  He loved it and even helped me make it.  Well, he approved of the frosting before I put it on the cake.
Trey will finish the 1st grade in a week and has actually come a long way this year.  He is reading much better than he was at the beginning of the school year and doing well in his other courses.  His primary teacher adores him.  She said he is a joy to have in class and has even helped a more rowdy boy calm down and listen better in class.  When she told me that I was very proud of him.  He also learned to ride a bike and tie his own shoes(two things we have struggled with for years)
Trey you are a great boy!  I love you with all my heart.  Congrats on turning 7.  Hope you had a wonderful day.
(He was sad that I didn't buy him any Lego's this year, but I am done buying lego's.  We have hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of legos that end up everywhere.  In fact, right now most of them are in the garage on probation because they were just out of control.  Thankfully, a pack of gum got his mind of the lack of new legos.)

Grandpa got Married!

Today Grandpa got remarried to Sega!  We are excited to have her in the family.  Congratulations you two!!

Cousins

Makai pushed Sam the entire afternoon.  He loved it!!

So excited the kids got to see the Salt Lake Temple.  Kyle liked the conference Center.  All of them loved being on temple square.

Gotta love Cousins!!
It was a quick trip.  We left about midnight Friday night to be there in time for the Wedding Saturday morning.  We walked about temple square with cousins and Aunties for a few hours.  Slept at the hotel and left early Sunday to drive back.  Not my favorite type of trip, but we were happy to be there for the wedding and the cousins loved seeing each other!!
