And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the son of God, that ye must build your foundation. Heleman 5:12

Scary reality!
So, on Friday I got a call from Tyler and Kyle's school informing me of a predator that has been asking kids to get in his car in our district. I was very thankful for the call and praise the district for taking that precaution. In the message they told us to teach our kids again to never get in a car with a stranger. So, I turned off the radio in my car and turned the moment into a teaching moment for Kory, since Tyler and Kyle were still in school. Just out of curiosity I said, "Kory, if you were outside and someone came and asked you to get in their car and they'd take you for a drive what would you say." To which he responded, "I'll tell him Thanks!" I about died! Then I explained to him what he really should do. WE practiced screaming together--NO GET AWAY FROM ME--but he wasn't really into it. I wasn't sure if he really got the importance of what I was trying to teach him, but didn't know what else to say. Realizing the need to teach my kids the importance of being aware of the dangers that are out there, but not scaring them so much they were afraid to live, I stopped. Later, when we went to pick up the kids from school Kory hung onto my leg with all his might. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "I don't want anyone to take me so I'm holding onto you." I felt so bad...maybe I scared him, but at the same time it was something he had to learn.

It really is a scary world out there that we send our kids into! We can't live in fear or else we'd all go crazy...but maybe putting a little fear in the kids is okay so that they can feel how serious you are???
LOVING the new pictures by the way!
That is super scary!
When our girls were about that age, we took them to a class on safety at a local martial arts school. It was a free class they did for publicity, but they did a good job of teaching the kids without making it worrisome for them. For a couple weeks after that the girls would practice dropping to the ground and screaming, "Help! Help! This is not my Mom or Dad!"
Your story cracked me up! Don't worry. In a couple of months your boys will be bigger than any predator out there. I think Trey already is.
A scray reality is right! So sad that we HAVE to teach our kids these things...good job mom !
Greg is hilarious... Love the new pictures by the way....
I was just reading other peoples comments and it reminded me of something that happened to of my friends! She was shopping with her little girl and the girl was throwing a huge fit. She told her daughter something like, "I am your mom and you need to listen to me" Then her daughter starting screaming, "YOU AREN'T MY MOM!" over and over at the top of her lungs! It was a good thing her daughter is a spitting image of her! Now...you could get yourself in some big trouble if your boys started running away from you in a store and yelling that you aren't their mom! (lol!) :)
I love your new family pictures! You guys look so great! I think Trey (that's your youngest?) is so cute when he's waving. Not sure if that's what he's really doing, but it's so darn cute.
This is something I hate about earth life that there are people so sick out there. as a mother there is nothing more disturbing. I swear there is a creap in every town big or small. I'd rather my kids be a little scared than get taken.
good teaching moment..better to be safe than sorry! and BTW..i LOVE your hair in the family pics...
i love the pictures too! you have such a good-looking family!
yeah, we've had some talks about things like that with r. and it really does feel like a fine line your walking - trying to make your children understand without making them scared of everyone. but in the end, i think the same. better to be a little scared than sorry!
Love the new page!!!
I think this was a great teaching moment. It is a "scary reality," but we have to protect our kids and I think you did a great job.
