After over a year and a half in California we have now moved yet again to the beautiful state of Colorado. We enjoyed our time in California being close to family. We thank Nana for letting us live with her and are very grateful for everything she's done for us. We are very thankful that our boys had a chance to live close to family. They are so blessed to know their grandparents/aunt and uncles/cousins. There were definitely mixed emotions as we drove away from our home and headed out to the unknown.
Monty drove the UHAUL and I followed in the van. I was really worried about Makai and how he'd do on the trip, but he did great! The one who had the hardest time would have to have been Trey! Poor guy. About one hour into the drive he told me, "Mom, I see Colorado!" Needless to say about three hours into the drive he was screaming, "I want to go home!" Poor kid. The other boys had been working for weeks to earn enough points to be able to play their Nintendo DS systems on the drive, so they were more than content for the drive to continue.
On day one we drove to Utah. We stopped in Saint George for dinner and to see Monty's Brother and our Sister in Law. We had a short, but sweet visit with them and then drove to my grandma's. We spent the following day with her. First thing in the morning the boys found a toad and the joy of the day continued from. As it was the same week as the year anniversary of my grandpas death I was super happy to go visit him at the cemetery and see his headstone. We enjoyed our day with grandma. We spent a few hours at the pool and the boys had a blast in the pool. So refreshing after a full day in the car. The following morning we began again to drive! We started driving at 5:00am and finished about 5:00pm. We were so happy to get out and stretch out legs. We had arranged to rent a house and the management company met us at the house at 5:00. We looked at the house, paid the needed amount and got the keys. It really couldn't have worked more perfectly. Since then we've been working on unpacking and enjoying our new town.
We told the boys months and months ago that we wanted to take them to Estes Park to feed the Chipmunks. We took Tyler once when he was our one and only and had such a fun time we wanted the other boys to experience it. Wednesday we took a day off from packing and drove to the mountains for a day of fun. It was oh so fun!! You started by going up an aerial tram about 1100ft to the top of Prospect Mountain. The view at the top is incredible!! When we arrived we got some peanuts and started looking for some chipmunks to feed. Trey so so funny. He would get so excited and chase the chipmunks so they kept running away. He got so tired of waiting for them that he decided to just eat the peanuts. We had to separate Trey from the other boys. They were having no luck with Trey around. However, once we separated the fun began. Tyler was awesome. The kid had a whole system down. I started sending boys over by him one at a time and he was helping them feed the chipmunks. He was so thoughtful of the other boys making sure they each left happy. Kory was super sad because he'd only fed one, but Tyler took him over by a bush(part of his whole strategy) and Kory fed this chipmunk for quiet some time.
He even managed to help Trey feed a few! He was so excited after a chipmunk would take his peanut he'd make the cutest excited face ever. Monty found a pretty cute chipmunk to feed!:) The funny thing was after Makai slobbered on this peanut the chipmunks wouldn't have anything to do with it. We had a wonderful afternoon. Oh, and would you believe that on the trip down the gondola it started snowing!! Yep, that's Colorado for you. The weather can change in a matter of seconds from warm and sunny to not so warm and sunny. We left when the lighting and thunder started. On the way home we stopped at, "The Dam Store--The Best Store By a Dam Site" and got some Buffalo Jerky, Alligator Jerky and Elk Jerky. Fun Times!
This week is back to reality. We have to sign the boys up for school, Monty is headed to the library to study, and well...I'm doing more unpacking. We are happy to be here and are settling in slowly but surely.

Hey, it was fun reading about your trip and your settling in and the trip to Estes Park! I loved the picture of the boys at the gravestone and the pictures with the chipmunks. I can see why they love Colorado so much! I hope all is going well for you this week! I just can't understand why those chipmunks had a problem with Makai slobber . . .
I remember going to Estes Park. That was a fun time. I'm glad to see you're not wasting any time getting settled into your new location. I'd probably wait until it was time to move again, then feel like I have to cram everything in that we wanted to see. You're so on the ball!
Looks like you guys are gonna have some fun there. We miss you! Glad you made it safe and were able to visit Gma on the way up. I can't wait to come visit!! :)
I'm glad you guys made it safe to Colorado. Feeding the chipmunks looks like so much fun. The strange weather sounds familiar but no snow over here.
