Run Mom, Run!

Tonight I had to go up to the church to see if we had some things in our Primary closet. I decided to take the boys and play with them in the cultural hall since today was so hot we couldn't go outside. We had the greatest time!

I had the boys doing some basketball drills. Kory kept crying because Tyler kept beating him. I jokingly said, "Kory, Tyler has longer legs than you. He runs faster than you. Don't worry, I don't even think I can beat him." Tyler heard this and immediately challenged me to a race! Hello!! I am not one to turn down a challenge. So, I put Trey down(he wasn't so excited about the challenge) and got on my mark! GOOD GRIEF!! We raced back and forth several times and I was dying to keep up with him! He beat me twice! I beat him once and we tied most of the time. I was seriously running as fast as I could!! It was so fun. However, I'm afraid it's not going to be as fun tomorrow. I can already feel my quads tightening!

We then played a fun game. We sat on the floor and who ever had the ball had to answer a question.
The first question: What is your favorite food?
Kory: Macaroni and Cheese (funny, half the time I make it he doesn't eat it)
Tyler: Pizza and Hot Dogs
Kyle: "I have a lot actually. Strawberries, strawberry shortcake, hot dogs, pizza, salad, and macaroni and cheese like Kory."
Second Question: What are you afraid of?
Kory: MONSTERS
Tyler: Snakes and dad chasing me down the stairs.
Kyle: "I have a lot actually. Monsters, balls with poky things on them rolling after me,..."he went on.
Third question: "What is your favorite memory?"
Kory: "Going to Hawaii."
Kyle: "I have a lot actually. Going to Hawaii, when Trey was born, when Trey started to walk..." he went on.
Tyler: "When Trey was born. Going to Hawaii." Most of what Kyle had said.
Question 4: What was your worst memory?
Kyle: "I have a lot actually. You know the first...SHOTS for Kindergarten!"
Kory: "Getting shots!"
Tyler: "When President Hinckley died." He then burst into tears. I knew he was sad that day, but didn't expect that reaction. Needless to say we stopped the game. I felt like I learned a lot about the boys tonight. They are great kids.

What a sweet story. You really are an awesome mom Kristin. You have a good kid there. Well actually you have a lot of good kids there. I love you thank you for the story. Good luck walking after running like that. You might have to do those races just a little more often. I think we should all do those races a little more often.
I am surprised that the worst moment was not the "Sticky Buns incident" that the boys suffered through.

I loved this post. I went from laughing to almost crying. That sounds like some spontaneous fun. I feel amazed becaue I can't imagine ever running again. Thats my goal after this preg. now is to race Jacob and LIndsay. they would think thats hilarious. Your such a fun mom. A perfect boy mom. (i'm sure you would be a perfect girl mom too.)

Kristin--Tea read this post. The next day she asked me, "You know who I want to marry when I grow up?" She said Tyler. She can see his heart and how kind he is. No idea why that even enters her head (who she will marry at the age of 8), but Tea has always been one to think ahead and she always knows what she wants. Tyler better watch out! :)

Hold on Kelly! I have had dibs on Tyler for my Kaitlyn for the past 5 1/2 years or more! :)

I love those great moments that happen with no planning at all. I think I get so busy trying to make things happen that I forget to slow down and enjoy those "tender mercies" that the Losrd is trying to let me have!

If we lived closer...we could go running together like we used to do in high school! You could secretly workout and then challenge Ty to a race and blow his socks off!!!!...then he'll have something new to be afraid of! :)

Love ya! I am SO blessed to have you as a friend!

I JUST LOVE IT.... I love reading your blogs of your experiences with the boys. Again, Kyle never fails to make me laugh. TJ & I were cracking up while we read this post and at the end about Tyler.... Even his own 6'2, Samoan uncle nearly got teary eyed. You're such a great mother and you've somehow just made me want to have children now. Love and miss all you guys. Please send my love to Monty and the boys.
