TREY!!

As part of our preschool routine I like to make the boys their name in pancakes.  Trey was super excited the morning we did this.  Of course, Tyler told me it would have been better if I made them with food coloring.  Tyler always one ups my ideas.

Happy Boys!

TYLER and Kyle have been wanting to build a bird house.  When my parents were here my mom told the boys she wanted to get them something fun.  Tyler said he wanted to go get some wood to build a bird house.  This is when my dad came to the rescue!  I don't have the right tools to do this project, but my dad...now that is a different story.  Thankfully he was willing to take on the project.  He went home and started the project right away. (Tyler gave him permission to unpack first.)  He called once it was in the mail and the boys counted down to its arrival.  It came Monday, so Monday I had the boys sand it and Tuesday after school and homework we put it together.  As you can see...Grandpop made two boys very happy and a mother very relieved!  Thanks dad.  Note to Birds:  "One  new house open for business."

Highlights from Mammy and Grandpop's visit.

We were exited to have a visit from California this past week.  My parents came out to visit and we had a lot of fun while they were here.  On Saturday Monty had the idea to attend the Air Force football game.  Of course the Academy holds a special place in our family.  We were exited for the boys to see a football game played on the field their dad once played on.  We don't care what college the boys choose to attend, but it would be fun if one of them decided (and get into) the Academy.

The game was a great one.  I enjoyed watching the boys enjoy it together.  Kory was a little cold so here is a picture of Tyler trying to keep him warm.

Makai was really good throughout the game.  At one moment he got a little antsy and Kyle put him on his lap and talked to him about the game.

Touchdown!!

Equals pushups!  These cadets worked as hard as the players during this game!
We were really excited for Kyle to see the half time show.  The falconers do a show in which they show off the skills of the falcon.  It was once believed you couldn't train a falcon to perform in front of an audience, but that theory is proved wrong here.  Kyle was so excited about this part of the football game.  When we told him he could go to the academy and be a falconer he smiled.  We'll see.

Air Force won!  It was beautiful outside.  A little cold, but not bad.  On our way home we had some lunch and then went to see the Nichols.  Monty's sponsor family from when he was at the academy.  It was nice to see them again and have my parents meet them.
Sunday we went to church.  Monty had to teach Sunday school and I have to teach Young Women.  Afterward we went on a nature walk.  The weather was perfect and being outside brings my kids to life.  The hike was perfect.  Just as we set out to head back Kyle spotted a family of deer.
The boys had this idea that if they looked more like deer the deer would come closer.  The deer actually came surprisingly close.
Monday was Labor day so everyone had the day off.  We took a drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park and had a great picnic.

The view was beautiful!!

I just wish I could have read this little man's brain to figure out what was on his mind.

Tuesday we took it easy.  Mammy and Grandpop watched a movie with Makai and Trey while the older boys were at school.

Makai snuggled right up for the movie.  He watched the whole thing on Mammy's lap on night.

Wednesday was the day they were suppose to depart but not without one more adventure.  We took them to our favorite zoo.  The Denver Zoo.  It was a little damp and cool which makes for perfect zoo weather. The animals like cool weather.
It's kind of a joke in our house.  Monty and I are total mammal people.  We go to the zoo to see the GORILLA!  Our boys go to see the birds. I've NEVER seen a group of boys get so exited about birds.  They talked about the crowned crane from the moment we left the house.  They kept saying how mammy was finally going to see a crowned crane in 'birdson'.(from a comment she left on their bird blog)
Tyler with some type of pigeon

Kyle with some horned something.  I'm not as into birds!!
Kory the lion.  Kyle the crane.

The boys have  been wanting to find a peacock feather at the zoo as they let the peacocks roam and if you find a feather you  get to keep it.  Kory found one this trip and was the star for the day.

Trey pretending to be some kind of bird.  I'd call him a stud bird!
Makai was so tired by the end of the morning that he had the giggles.  He was laughing at anything anyone would say.  I think Monty was saying something like, "The Lion will eat you!"  This sent Makai into hysterical laughter.
We loved ourweek with Mammy and Grandpop.  They were good sports about doing everything we love to do.  Thanks for coming and hanging with us.  We love you!!
