Thanksgiving 2016

Hard to believe we are already to Thanksgiving!  We started the morning with the three older boys, Dad and our friend Johnny going to pass food plates out to individuals who had signed up for a meal Thanksgiving morning.  They were assigned a senior living facility and found the recipients very thankful for the meal.
Best way to spend Thanksgiving morning!

We decided to do a crab boil instead of a traditional Thanksgiving meal this year.

We had our friend Johnny over for Thanksgiving.  He is from Saipan and here in hopes to get into medical school next year doing the same program Monty did last year.  It was VERY interesting to listen to his stories about growing up on Saipan.  He said all over the island there are remnants of several wars.  Growing up he'd dig around and find grenades, bullets, bunkers, and they even have a buried tank on their property and he can play a mean Ukulele!
Over a year ago when I found out about the MOVIE Moana I knew we'd want to see it.  When I found out it came out on Thanksgiving I told everyone we were going.  The movie did not disappoint!  When it ended I told Monty I could have watched it again right after watching it the first time.  Thanks Disney!!

ROLL STORM!!!

Tyler enjoyed playing football this year.  The JV team went undefeated as well as the Varsity team.  Because it is a Class B school, the teams tend to be smaller, so they have all the JV players attend all the Varsity games.  This year the Varsity team won the state championship.  It was a pretty exciting night as they got to play at Memorial Stadium.  We didn't attend the game as it was FREEZING cold that night and raining, but thankfully it was televised.  Fun to be part of a winning team!!  It was a pretty amazing game with a final score of 34-32!  The funniest part was here at home we were wondering how the announcer would pronounce Tyler's name.  Of course he had no problem with Tyler--then there was a couple second pause followed by ALANOA.  We all laughed.
Congrats BUD!

Brotherly Love

Nothing warms a moms heart more than when she see's her sons helping each other.  While getting ready for Church I came downstairs to find Trey helping Makai tie his shoes.  He was frustrated he couldn't get his shoes tight enough, so Trey helped him.  Enjoy the moments!  In church that day the kids were asked to perform and act of kindness--Trey said, "Can I just count my act of service this morning?" Makai made my bed again.  They do have kind hearts!

Nebraska is Beautiful!

One thing we miss about Colorado is hiking.  Here in Nebraska we lack mountains, thus we lack hiking.  But while driving a couple day ago Monty and I found this lake not to far from where we live and decided it might be fun to walk around.  After church I put dinner in the over and we set off for a walk.  This 5 mile walk was so relaxing and beautiful.  We watched the sun set and the moon rise.

Almost done boys!  Ribs are in the oven.

Makai was so excited to see this along the path!  He was born to play!

Thankfully this little guy was just that--little.  The only good news about seeing him was it was actually warm enough for him to be out.  We've had a pretty mild fall so far.

Oh, how I love these boys!!

Maybe Not a Chef

Trey told me he didn't like Toast.  If you know me I really couldn't even fathom that reality, until I saw his toast.  Then it was more clear.  Poor kid.

Trey's 4th grade Muscial concert

Trey's concert was dedicated to the men and women who serve our country.  Teachers, fire fighters, police officers, first responders, parents, grandparents and members of the military.   He learned the Fight songs for the Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force.  In the program his part was, "Hero's stand for what we believe is the best within us."

Trey is a really great singer and enjoys singing.  My biggest fear is he will think it isn't COOL to sing and he won't want to continue singing in middle school.  He memorizes music so easily and has such a great ear for it.  During the program he was so excited that they were going to sing the Air Force song because they were also going to ask any former military members to stand during their branches song.  He is pretty proud of the fact that his dad could stand during the song.  I was so glad Monty could make it because talked about it for WEEKS!  We were glad we could go support him tonight.  Great job Trey!
