He's 16!!

Can't believe we've been luck enough to have this dude for 16 years!  Although his hair is a little long and he sometimes knows how to push his brothers buttons, he's a pretty amazing kid to have around.  He can draw like he's been professionally trained, loves listening to music, and hates doing dishes.  He's pretty much your typical 16 yr old.  He's really good at puns and figures out how to add them to pretty much every dinner conversation.  If he feels he's being treated unfair, he'll fight until he gets what he wants.  I guess he does fit his name!  He loves to sleep and hates mornings!  Earlier morning seminary STOPPED in this house when KORY arrived.  Last week I had to chaperone his seminary class and he only made it two days.  But, he does love God and wants to do what it right.  He just can't do it early in the morning.  We've decided it is more important for him to be a good kid, so we've dropped it.  He does do well in school win very little encouragement from us as parents.  He's goofy, but smart all at the same time.  He does hold his pencil a little funny, but his writing is neat and if he can draw with such precision who am I to change it.  He's almost always found in a hoodie and shorts.  He loves lemon.  For his birthday I made him a lemon meringue pie.  He hates ice cream and isn't a huge fan of cake.  Although, he does like cheesecake.  He would have loved a lemon cheesecake from Olive Garden like last year.  I promise next year buddy!

For his birthday we were going to just let him pick his own gifts, but he actually likes us to pick his gifts for him.  So, Monty and I went out on his birthday and found his some things that reminded us of Kory.  Of course some beat headphones since he is always listening to music.  A Lakers championship sweatshirt, a Broncos beany, and some art supplies.  He was grateful for his gifts and never complains about the gifts we choose.  Although, I wanted to get him some gifts that he might have complained about.  Monty and I got in a disagreement because Monty claimed to know all of Kory's favorite teams.  I thought he was wrong and Kory liked different teams.  To make a long story short--I was wrong!  Glad Monty picked those gifts.    We love you buddy!!

Dishes

Not one of the boys likes doing dishes.  They each have one night a week that they are responsible to do dishes and every time it's their dish night they put if off or try and act they they forgot it was their night of the week to do dishes.  Kory has Monday, Trey Tuesday, Parents have Wednesday, Makai has Thursday, Mom has Friday, Kyle has Saturday and Tyler use to have Sunday, but now Monty and I share it.  Thursday night came and went and the dishes didn't get done.  Makai is no different from his brothers.  But, this Friday morning there was no school so he got a second chance and nailed it!!  look how good this sink looked after he was done.  I was pretty proud of him and decided this was worth documenting!  Thanks Makai for cleaning the kitchen.  You did a great job!
