Makai's Concert

Makai had his kindergarten music concert.  He had to dress 'fancy'.  (I loved hearing him tell me that.) He did a great job.  We went as a family, except dad who was at school.  They sang several songs.  He hardly moved his mouth, but enjoyed himself and was proud to be on stage.  The four older boys were good sports.  I knew they didn't want to go, but made the best of it.  Tyler even remembered singing one of the songs when he was in kindergarten.  It was fun to support him as a family.  Kinda crazy to think he is almost done with Kindergarten.  Makai HATES going to the boys band concerts.  At Tyler's last concert he was in tears for most of it!  He thinks they are too long and SOOO boring!  He even said in tears, "Mom, I never want to go to High School because I never want to be in band!"  I love the things that come out of this kids mouth.  He doesn't miss a thing and is not afraid to tell you what he is thinking.

Trey's Pinewood Derby

I HATE the Pinewood Derby.  Each year it causes so much heartache because I don't build winning cars because I let the boys make there own cars!  This year was Trey's first pinewood Derby and I will say he had a pretty cool looking car.  He designed it himself and had Kyle draw some Polynesian designs on it.

The set up for the race was pretty cool.  He had to take a written driving test to get a license and everything.  They started out with Donuts and milk and then the races began.  His first race, he got fourth place, also known as LAST place.  He burst into tears and hid under his sweatshirt.  His second race, I tried to get his hopes up, but once again, he got fourth place!  MORE TEARS!! His third race--fourth place again!!  He was so defeated.  My heart was breaking for him.
However, on his fifth race he got 3rd!!  YAY!!  Then he was done.  Thankfully, there were nachos and ice cream and I taught him how to eat his sorrows away.  It also helped that he had a friend that got 4th place 4 times!

Maybe next year will be better....

Tyler 15!

Tyler is officially 15!  He is still such a good kid!  He LOVES his music.  He spends most of his time on the piano or guitar.  He also wants to play football, but has the dream of playing in a band as the lead guitar.  He gets himself up for seminary.  Has a 4.0 in school and really tries his best just to be good.  He does lots of service and never complains.  He mows lawns when asked and always does it with a smile and to the best of his ability.  We are lucky to have this kid!!
For his birthday I got his a Betta Fish!  When he was 5 he had a Betta fish.  Before we moved from Cheyenne to California I tried to get him to give it away, but he wouldn't.  I may have left it in the car one night while moving knowing that the temperature was going to dip deep enough to let the water freeze and cause his fish to die.  About 8 yrs later, I confessed!  This was the first step to my repentance.  This was the final step!  I bought his a new one!  He named it Marshawn.  I think he was pretty excited to see him!

Happy Birthday Tyler!!  We are so lucky to have you!!!  SO LUCKY!!
