Trey's corner of the world!

Michelle kind of got me going again on my house. Her inspiration--along with the fact that Trey can crawl and I sometimes have some moments that he is content without me--has given me some time to spice up our home a little. So, in Trey's honor I've been working on his corner of the room. Here is what I have so far. Kyle helped me put this puzzle together. It's 550 pieces and took almost an entire day to put together, but I thought it would look cute hanging above Trey's bed. Trey has an ocean bed. It's the same ocean bed I've had for all the boys. Sister Payne made it for me and I've always loved it.

We love 2 help!

Yesterday I made a chart for my kids to help them with remembering to do their jobs around the house and to help me not always pick on the closest kid around. It's a lot like one my mom had for us growing up. Instead of calling it a chore chart I titled it, "We love 2 help!" That sounds less...well like I'm forcing them to do it! Anyway, Tyler is the first one to have dishes and last night he was such a great help! I was teaching him the right way to load the dishwasher and he cracked me up when he said, "Mom, I'm having fun helping you, but doing dishes is kind of gross. I mean, you have to touch stuff that people had in their mouths!" I had to laugh because I totally agree! I don't think he's going to be a dentist.

Monterey

This weekend Monty had the weekend off so we took off to Monterey again. The boys love the aquarium and Monty and I were dying for some PF Chang's! They have these lettuce wraps that are to die for! At the hotel we ordered dessert--room service(I'd never done that). The boys thought that was pretty cool. However, our neighbors had to come ask us to be quiet about 9:30 because they were trying to sleep! Let that be a lesson...no dessert for 4 little boys at 9:00 at night! Anyway, the weekend was a lot of fun. Sunday we went to a ward in Monterey at the Stake Center my dad use to attend. It was kind of cool to see it because I remembered a few things about it after entering the building. The clearest memory was sitting in the overflow and grandpa giving us some nasty black things that we thought were candy but were some horrible torture device, and him laughing at our disappointment and discussed! Does anyone else remember those nasty things? Anyway, I think Erik and Ryan were baptized there as well.

Here are two pictures of I love from the aquarium! Kyle having fun in the OTTER BAY exibit!

My favorite picture of the trip! Trey enjoying the aquarium! I think it's so cute the extent he'll go to just for a glimpse at a shark. It was really fun to watch him enjoy all the creatures! I love his age!! Everything is so new and amazing!;) Oh, and he really does have more than this shirt! :)

Bitter-Sweet!

Yesterday we were driving in the car and Tyler was talking to Trey and said, "Trey aren't you excited for your birthday next month!" Hearing that totally threw me for a loop! Trey turns one a month from today! How in the world did that happen? I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast! Saturday he crawled upstairs found a cozy spot and feel asleep. When I came upstairs to find him this is what I saw! Priceless! I love this little man! Later that night he fell asleep with Dad. Now that he is always on the go...when he's ready to sleep--he's out!!
Tyler always has an activity he's working on. He made this several days ago and won't eat it. Every morning Kory takes a piece off and when Tyler gets home from school he gets the peanut butter and crackers back out and adds the piece back. I think it's cute, but I'm getting a little tired of having it on my table! I took a picture in hopes that he will eat it today after school!

Let it be known

Photobucket
Since moving to Paso Robles we have not had cable! We wanted to try and see what life was like without it as well as see who could go longer before giving in! Well, let it be known MONTY CRACKED!! He survived March Madness without cable, survived the football and basketball season, but the straw that broke the camels back was the Lakers making it to the playoffs! So, yesterday he called the cable guy and today he is a happy man!:)

Elephant Seals

So, we took a drive the other night back to the coast! After camping we went to a barbeque place and Monty was craving his meal again and hey...I'm always up for a trip to the ocean! So after we ate we figured it would be kind of silly to have driven that entire way and not do something else, so we drove a little further north and found an entire group of Elephant Seals. We'd been told they were around, but didn't know exactly where. Anyway, it was pretty cold by the time we got there, but really fun to see so many of those ugly creatures living the life! I added a few pics for that evening as well as a few more from our camping trip.

House Pics

Okay Michelle--I finally got some pics of our house. I'm not sure you'll get any ideas, but you're right--our home is what we work so hard on so why not put some pictures of our favorite rooms.

So this is our front room. This is the room that I try to teach the boys to respect thus they aren't allowed to jump off the coffee table onto the couch like they do in the other room. They often have to be reminded, but we are working on it.

This is our kitchen--well that is pretty obvious. I started a sunflower theme back in Wyoming where I actually got to paint my walls because I loved the light brown with the yellow flowers, but now we are renting and there is no way I'm going to paint only to have to repaint...so the white walls will do!Tyler and Kyle share a room and have turned into a transformer, lego, book and Star Wars paradise!! They were pretty excited to see I cleaned it up for them to take this picture! Anyway, I leave the books in the closet away from Trey who's new found love is emptying anything he can get his hands on!! It's actually kind of cute, but gets a little annoying!

Hair cuts!

Well, for the past three days I've been cutting hair! It's weeks like this that I feel like I have 100 boys! I use to try and cut their hair all on one day, but now with Trey crawling that just doesn't happen! I can only cut when he's sleeping for obvious reasons! Anyway, so today was Kory's turn and poor kid tried so hard to be patient with me! At first he was being so good, but then he got hair in his mouth, and after that--his patience was shot, but that isn't the worst part. See I am such a crazy lunatic that I want this home hair cut to look as perfect as possible which means I tell them they are done get them all cleaned up and then see a spot I don't like and bring the scissors right back out and try and fix it! Anyway, today was a hoot because after cleaning Kory up a third time and finding one last TINY place I missed he just wouldn't and couldn't believe me, and started running! Anyway, I can only imagine what it looked like as I chased him around the house screaming, "Kory this is the last time I promise." While he ran screaming and crying, "NO MOM!! NO MORE!! I'm DONE!!" I felt like a farmer chasing a chicken before chopping it's head of. Anyway, Kory I'm sorry! Don't worry...next time I'll spring and take you to Super cuts!:) $12 is starting to sound cheap!

Thanks wife!

So, Kory is in this funny, cute stage where he likes to dress up like Prince Charming from Sleeping Beauty! So, he picked out this outfit the other night and grabbed his power ranger sword and set off saving me from dragons and witches and all kinds of other wicked stuff, but the funniest part came later that night when I told him it was time for dinner. He sat down to the table and said, "Hey, this looks good. Thanks wife." I just laughed as he called me "wife" a few more times that night. I finally asked him why he didn't call my princess and he said, "Because you aren't wearing a dress." I guess that means I'm only classified as a princess for three hours every Sunday!:)

Camping--coastal style!

So, after feeling bad that we'd never taken our boys camping we finally broke down and bought a tent and sleeping bags for everyone and just did it!

The tent proved to be a challenge, but eventually we were able to get it up and start the fire for the hot dogs!
Every time I've gone camping there were plenty of sticks laying around to roast hot dogs so I didn't bother bringing hangers! Heck...I was ready for the "whole" experience! Well, obviously I've never been camping on the coast! There was not a branch anywhere! Go figure! Live and learn...next time!! Thankfully the boys were happy just getting hot dogs roasted on the grill and looking on the bright side at least we didn't have anyone lose a hot dog to the fire.

The next morning we took the tent down and decided to go explore the city of Cambria. It was so beautiful! So relaxing. We took the boys to the tide pools and enjoyed the perfect weather! Camping trip one--success!

Are kids smarter these days?

So, yesterday Tyler came home from school with another tooth missing! Interestingly enough it fell out while he was writing a story about how he lost his first tooth, which happened at school as well! Anyway, last night I told him to put it under his pillow so the tooth fairy could come and give him some money! Kyle then said, "I don't think the tooth fairy is real. I just think mom and dad sneak into our room and put money under our pillow!" I was kind of taken back by his comment! I believed for way past...well his age!! He hasn't even lost a tooth! Poor kid! I still played along however telling them the tooth fairy never let me down! He may be willing to throw in the towel and stop the game, but not me! The tooth fairy left Tyler a dollar! I was a little mad when he said, "Ah man...just a dollar!" Kids these days! Hello...in my day a dollar was a big deal!

New Outfit!

So, I probably shouldn't buy anymore baby boys cloths because well...I've got a ton after four boys, but I was on Old Navy.com and found this outfit for Trey and couldn't resist! I love the plaid shorts and have never gotten any for any of the boys, but now they are the style! Anyway, I took this a few week ago before church! I don't get to buy cute dresses, but hey...plaid will do!

Amazing Conference

I feel so humble and thankful this Sabbath day to be a member of the church. I feel so full after two days of hearing from our Father in Heavens humble servants. The talks were so heartwarming. I loved hearing from President Monson. I know that he is truly our new prophet and that he takes this calling upon himself with humility and devotion. I loved Elder Ballard talk today and felt understood and appreciated as a mother. I feel a new desire to be a better mother, wife, missionary, and friend. I'm so thankful for the gospel! I'd be so lost without it!

Fish

So, my mother in law came this week for a few days to see the boys. It was her spring break. Monty asked her to make fish while she was here and she did...along with the shrimp she makes that I totally love. Kyle and Tyler love the shrimp as well, but none of them will touch the fish. Anyway, yesterday at lunch I was having one of my intellectual talks of the day with Kory and he said as serious as can be, "Mom, I love fish. Yeah, fish is really good. Do you like fish?" I told him yeah, I liked the fish Nana made. To which he replied. "I like fish too." I was kind of confused, but let it go and then he said, "Gold fish are so yummy." Then it was all clear!:) Cute Kory!
