Father's Day Donuts

Father's Day Donuts--Tyler made donuts on Father's Day.  It looked like we'd gone and ordered donuts.  They were delicious.  He made a custard filling for some.  I was very impressed with his skills.  Thanks Buddy.  Dad was very happy!

He lost some Wisdom today!

With COVID many doctors and dentist offices have closed down.  This has been an issue as we have been trying to get Tyler's wisdom teeth pulled for his mission.   It was looking as though we were not going to be able to do it, but where there is a will--there is a way.  His insurance was cancelled when he turned 19 which was a huge problem, but then because of COVID the reinstated it until COVID ends.  Not sure when that will be.  Every office we called here in town said they couldn't see him till after August, when he is already supposed to be in the MTC.  But Monty called and found a place that would see him that was about two hours away.  The best part was they could see him right away.  He had a consult and they said they could do it the next day!  We jumped at the offer.  Tyler was awake for the whole thing.  It didn't take long at all.  The drive was the longest and most tiring part.

He only swelled a little, but that is because he refused to take any pain medication.  Tyler is not a medicine guy.  He had this goal to not take any of the pills they prescribed him.  He was successful and was back to work just two days later.  He had to wear a mask, so no one even saw his swollen cheek.  He didn't like not being able to eat everything as food is very important to him, but he was a beast.  Luckily--he's got wisdom to spare!

Baking creations

Brianna has spent some time at our house this summer.  Her parents don't feel comfortable with Tyler coming to their house because of the concerns with Covid, but we have been enjoying having her at our house.  One things they enjoy doing together is baking.  Tonight they made a cheesecake and let me tell you...it was delicious!  Very moist and not too heavy.  I'm enjoying their little baking hobby.  We enjoy having her in our home.

Love running into this guy while grocery shopping!

Tyler is a quiet soul, but a good worker.  I love when I am shopping and run into him at Baker's.  He always comes over and gives me a hug.  Often while shopping other workers will tell us how much they love Tyler and what a good worker he is.  One lady even moved over to Click list just to work with Tyler.  She is probably my age, but said he's so easy to work with she jumped at the chance.  He's making a difference by being a light.  This is his last month of work before he quits to get ready for his mission.  He'll take July off to prepare.

Tent sleeping All Summer

Ever since the boys slept in a tent outside Makai has been sleeping in a tent in his room.  He has a bed, but prefers the tent.  It's been over a month.  He sleeps in here every night.  I love how relaxed he looks.  Only about a million blankets and too warm to use any of them.  One the outside he looks like a giant, but on the inside he is still very much a little boy.  Love him.

20 yrs of Marriage

Because of COVID-19 no one is traveling.  Flights a therefore super cheap.  Monty is always good at planning trips and found us a great deal to get away for a couple days to celebrate our birthday's and Anniversary.  Florida is one of our favorite places and we had such a nice time.  We spent the majority of time at the beach looking for shark teeth.  One day we will find a Methadone tooth.  We hunted the entire time for one, but no luck.  However, we did bring home some amazing shells and several shark teeth.  The weather was perfect, the time spent together was perfect.  I'm thankful Monty planned this trip and will never forget it.  We've had a great 20 yrs--lets just try 20 more.
I didn't take too many pictures...mostly we just enjoyed the water together, but here are a few moments we captured.

Some of the beaches were closed, a few open.  On Sanibel Island one beach was open.  We enjoyed looking for shells here and running from mosquitoes.  Man were they fast while walking from the car to the beach.  It was fine once you got to the beach, but walking through the trees--those bad boys were lethal.

When we got our rental car, the guy was really nice and recommended this pizza place.  Garlic knots, wings and a mushroom pizza--it did not disappoint.

We enjoyed watching the sunset.

While driving Monty noticed a plumeria tree.  He knows this is my favorite flower, so he turned the car around--went and rang the doorbell to a house to ask if he could pick a flower.  No one answered, so he just picked on for me.  It wilted pretty quickly, but it smelled so good.

Lighthouse beach wasn't open our first day on the island, but opened up the last day.  While driving there it was pouring rain.  We thought about turning back, but decided to go anyway.  The rain stopped just as we got to the beach.  Hardly anyone was at the beach because it had just rained.  We practically had the beach to ourselves for a while.  While walking in the warm water we began to notice something on the floor.  The ocean floor was covered in sand dollars.  When I say covered, I mean covered!  Thousands and thousands of sand dollars.  They were all alive, so we didn't bring any home, but how fun it was go see so many sand dollars.  We found some large shells as well, but they still had living animals inside, so we left those too.  It was an amazing afternoon in the water.  It seriously felt like bath water and was so clear.  I think quarantine helped the ocean recuperate a little?

While on vacations we stayed at an Air BnB.  This couple was also staying there and visiting from West Virginia.  To makes a long story short, we discovered they were also members of the church.  He was a retired military officer.  They got pretty sunburned so while there they let us borrow their shelling equipment.  This picture was taken right before eating a steak dinner she made Monty and I for our anniversary.  Such a kind gesture.

Lighthouse island after it rained and we were practically the only people on the beach. At least we can say we practiced social distancing!

The first restaurant we'd eaten in in months because of COVID.  The food was pretty good.

Love you babe!  Happy Anniversary!!  Thanks for an amazing and memorable trip.

While on vacation we didn't really watch the news.  Upon getting home we saw this in front of Wal-Mart.  While we were just living we learned that the country was having all kinds of riots.  The city was under a strict curfew because of rioters protesting a killing of a black man.  Could things get any craziers.  First COVID and NOW Protests and stores closing a 7pm.  I've never seen anything like this.  When I saw this I kinda just wanted to go back on vacation!
