Clean up nicely

We spent the morning helping with flood relief.  These people lost a few animals and their house a disaster.  These boys worked their little hearts out.  I was very proud.
Later that night Tyler had Prom.  Our neighbor, Anna, asked Tyler to go to prom with her.  It was freezing when we took these pictures.  The wind was so cold, I'm not sure how Anna did it, but she did.

We are blessed with good neighbors.

Tyler and Anna went with this couple to prom.  They had a blast.  They are Anna's friends from school, but Tyler was surprised when he realized he already knew both of them.  Did I mention it was super cold!!!  Seriously, I these girls put on a good show because it was beyond chilly.

Trey is growing up

I think Makai took this picture while we were at a track meet for Tyler.

Trey is one of the lucky 11 yr olds to get to go to the temple.  I was lucky enough to get to go with him his first time.  We had a fun drive out to the temple when he asked, "Mom, I feel like I am making history today.  I'm one of the first 11 yr olds to go to the temple. "  Yes indeed, Trey...today you made history.  I loved being in the temple with you!  I will never forget this day.  Thanks for letting me tag along.

Snow and Flooding

This year we had so much snow!!

We started to wonder if it was ever going to stop snowing.  For weeks and weeks the just kept falling and would melt.  This is a picture at our neighbors house that showed how high it was getting.  Shoveling our driveways was betting really hard because you had to throw the new snow so high.  Just when we thought it would never stop snowing it started to rain, melting all the now in a matter of a couple days and causing horrible flooding!
Typically the river is not very wide, but with all the flooding the river flooded.

And suddenly the road looked like it went into the ocean.  The river overflowed for miles.  It was the worst flooding in years.  These pictures were taken on March 15th, 2019.  The entire town of Fremont and Valley were under water.  You couldn't get in or out.  This picture was only about 5 miles from our house on West Maple.

Pictures didn't even show the extent of the flooding and the thousands upon thousands of people affected by the flooding.  We were able to go several weeks in a row to help the flood victims.  It was humbling to see their homes and just see them underwater and all their belonging ruined.  The boys were amazing workers whenever we went to help.  One week they even cancelled church and we went and helped instead.  We did go in the morning to take the sacrament and then went to work.  Kyle said after the project, "I'm legit proud of Mormons today."  It was neat to see how much we were able to help.  But sad to see how much work still needed to be done.  It will take years to recover.

Happy 18th Birthday Tyler

All he wanted was Loco Moco for dinner.  Tyler had to work on his birthday so we spent the whole day without him.  But when he got home from work I made him some Loco Moco.  Food is the way to this man heart!

It's hard to shop for this kid.  He really doesn't ask for much, but we got him a new phone.  He was completely surprised and happy.  I love to see him smile.

Although he did not want a court of honor to celebrate, Tyler did complete his eagle scout award.  Mammy and Grandpop sent him this eagle sculpture and a knife to congratulate him.  Pretty cool.

And, of course a white shirt and ties from Mammy and Grandpop.  All the boys look forward to their turn to get a new white shirt and tie for their birthday.

Oh, and I did make him breakfast before work.  Again, the way to his heart is with food!!  Love this kid and can't believe he is 18.
In any other state he'd be an adult, but in Nebraska 18 isn't.  Kinda funny.  You aren't an adult here till you are 19.

Trey loves Basketball

Trey had a great season this year in basketball.  He grew so much since last season. His team is mostly kids from our ward.  It has been fun to watch them all improve.

This free throw was a crazy free throw.  The team was down by one, but under pressure he made both free throws.  The whole crowd erupted in cheers when the ref blew the whistle and said the second free throw didn't count because someone behind him moved.  The game ended up going into overtime and the other team won.  He took it like a champ, but the call was bogus.

The dumb ref that called the stupid call that cost them the game.  I don't like this ref.  In fact, it was the only thing I didn't enjoy about this season was watching this guy run up and down the court blowing his whistle when he didn't need to.  Monty says we should be nice to him because it can't be easy to run up and down the court pregnant with twins.

He can  handle the ball so well.  He doesn't need to look at while he dribbles it making him useful to his team.  And he's quick he can steal the ball like thief in the night.

Swish!

Kory's latest happenings

Kory played on a basketball team this winter.  He was the star of his team.  The team went undefeated for the season and it was mainly because Kory scored over 20 points a game.  He enjoyed playing with his team and they were thankful he was on the team.

A poem Kory wrote in Ms. Christie's class.  I put his artwork and Trey's on the library book drop.  I am a lucky mom.
Kory loves to draw and has the talent.  He particularly likes to draw people.
There are a lot of hidden meanings in this picture.  It will be interesting to see what else he creates with his talent.

Kory is always goofing off.  The older he gets to more goofy he is becoming.  This winter we've been having a lot of soup.  Kory enjoys soup and is starting to eat more than ever!!
