Makai has a few things to learn

So, Uncle James and Aunt Cindy just had their third child.  A little boy! Samuel Salanoa born July 13th weighing 9lbs 3oz.
A few days before delivery Cindy posted this picture of herself ready to pop!  Makai was sitting by me and said, "She's fat!"  I said, "No honey, she isn't fat.  She is pregnant.  She has a baby in her tummy!"  Makai said, "She ate a baby!!"  I guess that's what happens when you are the last child.

Welcome to the family baby Samuel!

More Fishing!

The boys are really enjoying the new sport of fishing.  A guy in our ward offered to take a few of  them fishing last week.  They left at about 5:45 in the morning and wouldn't you know it was so easy to get them up!  Go figure!!   I was so excited to get a text that Kyle had caught a Small Mouth Bass!  Go Kyle! They released the small mouth bass because that day they were on the hunt for a Walleye!

Then I got a text that Tyler has caught a Walleye, and not just any Walleye.  A 22 inch long  Walleye!  The guy at the front desk when they left said it was the biggest he'd seen come out of the reservoir!

Kory and Kyle playing with the Walleye.

Tyler admiring his catch.

Wouldn't want to get bit by this dude!!

I was so thankful Brother Green was willing to get this bad boy ready for the grill.

That night we cooked him for dinner and he was DELICIOUS!!!  Everyone loved it.

Kory is already looking forward to next time when he gets to go.  Thanks Bro. Green!  You're awesome.  They boys always say, "It's so fun to know someone who loves the outdoors as much as we do!"  I think it's sweet.

4th of July Weekend

We enjoyed a 4 day weekend for the 4th!  We always enjoy when dad gets time off because he knows how to have fun.  The boys really enjoyed fishing during Memorial Day weekend, so we decided to do that again.  The lake was beautiful, and the boys even managed to catch a few fish!
Monty said whoever caught the first fish could pick what we had for dinner.  Not more than 2 minutes after saying that Kory scored!!

Tyler is probably the most patient kid when it comes to things.  He waited forever and patiently to catch a fish, and finally had success.  We were pretty excited for him.

Trey knows how to get comfy, but didn't have any luck!

Kory caught a couple more fish that evening.  Kyle was trying so hard, but it started to rain and got really cold so we had to leave.  Poor kid was in tears, but such is life right.  It will make catching a fish that much better next time!
We then came back to town and watched a fireworks display.  It started almost an hour late, but finally started and we enjoyed it.  I loved watching Makai's face when the first firework went up into the air.  His jaw just dropped and he smiled the biggest smile of enjoyment.  For the first several fireworks he was in heaven!

Friday we decided to drive to Colorado Springs, to see some friend and take them to dinner.  We enjoyed our visit with them.  Saturday we did a few things in the Springs.  We thought it was appropriate the drive to the top of Pikes Peak as that is where America the Beautiful was written.  One day when the boys are older we'd love to hike it.  Monty said he did in college but it took him about 11 hours.  It was beautiful atop the mountain.
Kyle enjoying the view!

Kory asking if we are going to get a donut at the top of the mountain

Makai enjoying his chips from lunch way more than the view.

Monty and I enjoying our day together with our 5 amazing boys.

Yes...he is as tall as me!
We did get donuts at the top and we also learned why you have low gears in your car.  About halfway down the mountain they did a brakes check and we had to pull over for a while.  Our brakes were boiling which is kinda scary, but pretty awesome that they do a check.  We made it down the mountain safely in 1st gear!!

Then we drove to Manitou Springs to see some Cliff Dwellings.
What boys don't enjoy a TeePee.  Makai was so excited when he saw it!  He was screaming from the car, "A TEEPEE, A TEE PEE!"

Exploring the caverns

Kyle really enjoy the caverns as he studied them in school this year.  We really want to take him to Mesa Verde before the summer is up because although they were cool here they've got nothing on Mesa Verde!

This is a building they aren't sure what it was used for.

I think I would have used it for time out!  Then let the kid plead his case!:)

Tyler photo bombing!

Trey loves to get his picture taken.  He is always asking for more and more photos!!

We got home late Saturday night.  It was a great mini-trip.
