Nana's Visit

Nana was supposed to come this summer for a visit, but ended up not being able to because Lu had some medical issues, so she came for a weekend as she wanted to see Tyler before he left.  Makai is about as tall as Nana.  Everyone enjoys the food and Samoan coco she brings whenever she comes.  We were glad she was able to visit.  

Tyler had to an appointment to get new glasses, but he needed a companion--Trey did his part and was him companion for the morning.  

Nana taught me how to make Kimchi.  It turned out pretty good!  

 

School Started

 Our district is one of the districts who began in person classes for this 2020 school year.  Someone had to try.  Many precautions have been taken.  For example this is what I wear whenever I am close to students:

Never imagined I'd be teaching like this--but 2020 has been a memorable year.  I'm student teaching this semester, so I am super busy.  So...I didn't even get 1st day of school pictures this year!  Kind of a lot of my plate--some things suffer.  But, Kyle is starting 12 grade.  Kory starting 10th.  Trey is starting 8th grade and Makai 5th.  Makai has the same teacher Trey had for 5th grade.  Trey has teachers Kory and Kyle both had.  At dinner they talk about being called each others names at school.  Luckily they are use to them doing that at home all the time.  

Monty is doing a psychiatry rotation.  We went from no schedule--to massive schedule, but still just trying to take things one day at a time!!

It's official!  Tonight he was set apart as a missionary.  Let the journey begin.  Tomorrow morning--at home MTC begins.  

 

Family Photos

So, tomorrow Tyler will be set apart as a missionary, so today we went and took some family photos.  It seemed fitting to do them by some cornfield as Nebraska is known for it's corn!  Man I love my crew.  So my Mother's Day gift to myself finally happened it August.  I knew I wanted to wait till Tyler's hair was cut.  Kinda selfish!  But here are a few of the photos I look with my new PHONE!  

 

Off with his Hair!

Nothing like--let the mission begin like a hair cut!  Last night Tyler said goodbye to Brianna and tonight we cut his hair.  Now it is starting to become even more real!  He had a lot of hair on that head!  Tears were shed!  Haha.  

 

We Made it to August!

Tonight we took a nice walk as a family.  We loved being together.  We ordered some Abelardos and then took a walk.  Tyler was with Brianna, but I have to give it to him...they only have a couple days left together.  This is going to be a hard transition for both of them, but it is all for the better. Tonight, the sunset was beautiful!!
