My life with BOYS!!

Sometimes living in a house with all boys is hard.  Boys and girls see the world very differently.  Every meal time consists of talking about sports.  Teams, trades, stats....  I admit that I have no place in these conversations because I couldn't care less about teams, trades, stats....  But it is what it is.

I like everything to have a place because I HATE looking for things.  However, although everything has a place no one can manage to put things back where they go, but of course, they want me to help them find whatever is lost.

I like things to look nice.  I am a very visual person, so the way things look matter to me, boys couldn't care less!!

This weekend I had to laugh after a trip to Sam's Club.  I asked Makai to please put the soap away in my bathroom.  I have a nice little basket under my cupboard for the soap, but this is what I got.
Soap in a line with the wrapper of course on the floor.  Makai was really proud of his creation and I did find it extremely cute.

Then I asked Trey to put the toilet paper away.  Only a couple are suppose to go above the toilet with the rest under the sink.  Or...I guess this works too.
With all that being said, I love my boys!!  They are a blessing in my life.

Kyle gets glasses and turns 15!

This sweet boy is officially 15!  Recently he also started wearing glasses. He has been having headaches and telling me the board is hard to see.  We took him to get his eyes checked and sure enough he needed a slight prescription.  I am pretty sure he loves his new glasses because they are as much of a fashion statement as a help with his sight.

He was not very helpful this year when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday dinner and dessert.  We got a gift card from some friends for Christmas to Texas Roadhouse so we decided to just go to there.  He even let us sing to him while he road on the saddle.  He was not excited about that, but got over it.  For his birthday we got him a spam shirt and some "I love Spam" socks.  His main gift of a Polynesian sweatshirt didn't really turn out how we wanted it to.  It was not as cool as it looked on line, so we gave him some money to pick out some clothes.  He is really concerned about what he wears.  He knew exactly what he wanted and spent it at the outlet mall the following weekend.

Kyle is a sweet kid.  He loves football and is more of a teenager than sometimes I'd like him to be.  He text messages me a couple times each day just to see if I am having a good day.  Melts my heart.

Girls are already in the picture and although he doesn't agree 100% with the whole no dating till you are 16, he is choosing to follow it.  We've had a lot of talks about it and they are not all happy talks, but I am proud of him for being willing to follow the prophet even if he doesn't understand 100% why.  An act of Faith.  He tries hard to live the standards of the gospel and I'm so thankful for that.

Kyle still has the softest heart of anyone I know.  He is just sweet and kind and wants to be good.  We are blessed to have him.

He also has an Instagram account and helped Tyler get one because he thought Tyler should have one.  He is a crack up.

He is also excited to drive.  Right when he turned 15 he started asking about when he could get his permit.  Lucky us!

Love you Kyle!!  We look forward to the next year together.

Makai—Great to be 8

Eight is such a great birthday!  In our home it is the age in which you are considered accountable.  We can’t believe Makai is already 8. He was super excited to be baptized. In his interview with the Bishop when the Bishop said he was worthy to be baptized Makai threw both his arms over his head and brought them down with a lloud, “Yea!”  He tried so hard to pay attention during the interview which was hard for him and to make it more difficult the bishop had a bunch of candy in his office for after the interview which were rather tempting the entire time.  At the end he got a big handful of gummy bears.
His primary teachers had a wonderful towel made for him. He loved his teachers this year. Brother Haughawout and Brother McKay. We are thankful for their love for him.
Such a nice towel for Makai to remember his special day

This man is a goof off and a perfect friend to Makai.  He just gets Makai and their relationship was so sweet.  Makai knows Brother McKay loves him!  He was one of the witnesses at the baptism and cried as Makai went under the water.

Makai decided he wanted his Dad to baptize him.  Monty gave Makai a wonderful blessing when he gave him the gift of the Holy Ghost.

He had several friends come to his baptism.  His grandparents came all the way from California.  Mammy wasn't feeling very well, but still made the journey.
Grandpop was the second witness.
The Harrison's from Bellevue

The Primary President and her husband, but he had to leave before we could get a picture.  He skipped out on a meeting for just enough time to be there for his baptism.

And Even Paul and Pat our across the street neighbors.

Pat made Makai a sweet gift for his baptism

Makai and Grandpop gave Makai a journal which he spend several hours writing/drawing in.  We had some of his favorite soup for dinner and enjoyed the evening at home. It was a pretty cold day so we didn't venture out of the house, but enjoyed his special day.  When I asked him about his baptism he says the water was decently warm and he felt the spirit when he came down and up and just felt like he was clean again.
Mammy and Grandpop couldn't stay long.  They came out for just the weekend, but sadly, all good things have to come to an end!  We were thankful they came.

Christmas Break and a Photo Shoot

The pictures I had hanging in our front room were over two years old.  I haven't taken pictures of the boys since we moved to Omaha.  Two years ago I just bought the pictures from school and I am glad I did, but it was time for an update, so I had the boys get in the Christmas Sweaters my mom sent them for Christmas and we played around.  Here are a few of the photos.  Make no mistake about it--it was cold.  For some of the photos it was about 2 degrees outside, but for a few of them it was more like -11.  We will always remember this photo shoot as a cold day, but thanks boys.  You are all so handsome and wonderful.

-11 and worth it!!

-11 and SO COLD!!  But I love this picture!!

Love you Makai!!  Thanks for being a good sport even though your ears almost froze off!

I wasn't happy the the glare on his glasses.  Next time I will make him take them off, but when it is so cold outside you don't have time to be picky.  Good thing he is so handsome.
